2023 is The Year of the Chariot. Why? 2023 is a Seven Year (2+0+2+3=7). Besides being influenced by the traditional energies of Seven like introspection, emotion, analysis, intuition, reflection, seclusion, research, faith, movement, victory, and success, a Seven Year is also connected to the seventh card in the Tarot, the Chariot. This means 2023 will also be influenced by the Chariot’s energy!
The Chariot has many meanings and therefore multiple ways it will influence you during 2023. First, let’s talk about the Chariot Card’s energies in general and then we’ll cover how those translates into the effects you’ll likely experience in 2023.
The Chariot Card’s Energy
The traditional Chariot Card features a chariot, which at first glance is led by a charioteer and pulled by two sphinx. Yet looking closer you see the charioteer and chariot are one. The Chariot itself represents your physical body, a vehicle for your Soul’s energy to manifest in this world. The Chariot (your body) is literally a transportation vehicle.
The Charioteer is a protector/warrior who among other things defends spiritual seekers on their Pilgrimage and so metaphorically protects your soul so it can achieve its purpose on earth. The Charioteer is guided by his soul or higher self as seen by the star canopy above his head.
The two Sphinx, representing the senses, pull the chariot forward or in different directions. If you look closer, the Charioteer has no reins. He uses his will to control the Sphinx so he is not pulled off course! You will see this use of will is key for how you can get the most out of 2023.
The Hebrew letter for the Chariot is cheth which means fence or enclosure, another nod to the protective nature of the Chariot. Being connected with the astrological sign, Cancer also adds the influences of that sign’s properties.
2023 in a nutshell
Since the Charioteer is guided by its Higher Self, you also will be guided toward which steps to take in order to manifest your soul’s desire. Listen to your intuition to make your decision and then use your common sense to choose what physical activity is needed.
The Chariot will be constantly reminding you in 2023 that your body is the vehicle of your soul and not the one leading the show. Too much focus on the body’s desires may take away from your spiritual life or lead you to extravagances you later regret. Taking care of your body will be important (more so in 2024) so like doing maintenance on your car keeps it running well, be sure to treat your body with respect and nourish it well.
Warrior for Spiritual Growth
The Charioteer is a warrior, so you will be pulled to make a commitment to be protective of your spiritual growth. Be it a busy life or an unaccepting attitude of family or community, you won’t let anything stop you from following your spiritual callings. You also may find yourself called on to protect others’ right to practice their spirituality, especially family (a nod to the Cancer influence.)
Yet don’t forget the Card literally contains a chariot so you may find lots of opportunities to travel in 2023. Especially travel that excites your soul and moves you closer to your own spiritual pilgrimage. Also on a practical note, you may buy a car or need to do more maintenance than usual this year.
2023’s Influence of the Sphinx
The Sphinx represent your senses. Using your will to keep those senses from taking you off course is key to getting the most out of 2023. Practice focus techniques and be aware of how your senses are pulling you. You can strengthen your willpower and control over your senses, in turn strengthening your spiritual growth rather than get distracted and misled in 2023. Strengthening your mindfulness will help you grow by leaps and bounds. Focusing energy is with you during this year to assist you to engage your will and your mindfulness. So, this is also a great year for getting organized and having the focus to achieve goals that have seemed out of reach in past years.
2023’s Influence of the Astrological sign of Cancer:
Typical Cancer traits include nurturing, sensitivity, empathy, family-focused, compassion, protection, security-seeking and offering, loving, and humor. The Chariot and its Year Cycle finds you focusing on family and some of that travel we spoke of may be for family reasons. There will also be opportunities to turn the tides of codependency and use your empath skills to turn empathy into a superpower instead of a trauma inducer! If empathy is an issue, you can take some of my Empath classes this year!
2023’s Influence of the Hebrew Alphabet Cheth
The Hebrew letter for the Chariot is cheth which means fence or enclosure, and in 2023 you may feel yourself being contained. Yet this is not a restriction as much as a safety and a nod toward mindfulness. Think of a warm weighted blanket! Eliminating distractions and reigning in the tendency to over-schedule will be easier and is key to a productive and growth-filled 2023.
2023’s Influence of the Number Seven
Seven is the number of introspection, emotion, analysis, intuition, reflection, seclusion, research, and faith yet also movement, victory, and success. It is like the Universe is sending you all the energies you need this year to grow spiritually as well as be successful in making the most of 2023, including finding and following your Soul’s desires!
Spend time with the Chariot Card and allow your intuition to tell you more about how it will influence you! Remember your intuition is strong, you are guided by your Higher Self and will have the focus to achieve whatever you and your soul desire!
