A Call to Oneness: a Meditation for healing

This is an adaptation of a talk I gave for a church service on 11/8/20 yet is still relevant today.

A client called me a few weeks back. She said “I am struggling. I need extra sleep and feel listless. I know I am not depressed, yet it feels like I am. I just don’t feel like myself. I feel so blah.” I could hear and feel her judging herself for her emotional state.

I am sure some of you may relate to what my client is going through. Whether it is the political divisiveness, the ecological ticking time bomb, or the struggles caused by the pandemic, recent history has not seen a time when so many are experiencing shared dilemmas.

With these shared experiences, our country and even our world have never had more in common than right now. Yet, our country is torn and divided. Even with the next election far into the future, the judgments and divisions are clear. Spiritually we know we shouldn’t split our outer world into Us and Them, yet we struggle to not judge others for their different opinions.

On a personal level, what happens in our outside world tends to resonate and bring up similar issues inside of us. Are we at the same time internally condemning some part of ourselves for having these judgments? Whether internal or external, this judgment and the resulting divided state, is not in alignment with our true essence.

In most mystical traditions, we are taught our true essence, our true nature is Divine. We are divine … meaning our souls are formed out of Divine essence or “God Energy” if you will. God emits itself and we are created out of that emittance of God’s Essence.

Basic universal law teaches that all of Creation manifests when the vibration of God essence is lowered. Imagine god’s essence is like steam and as its vibration lowers, out of seeming nothingness, creation begins as water forms. As the vibration continues to lower, ice forms. Creation comes out of the seeming nothingness of steam.

Another way to word this is that the only difference between us and what we consider the Creative Force or God is simply our level of vibration. God is the steam and we are the ice chunks.

Problems tend to arise because the Lower our vibration, the harder it is to remember our true divine nature. It’s hard for the ice to remember it ever was steam! It is harder for us to remember we are all one, all made up of the same God Stuff. Why am I talking about how we have forgotten our divine nature and our oneness? What does this have to do with my client or our current situation?

I remind you of your true essence because when we forget who we truly are, how we are all one interconnected in our oneness, we forget how the emotions… even the headspace of those around us so easily can affect us emotionally, mentally, physically, and even spiritually.

We, along with all of creation are, for wonder and for sorrow, intimately and eternally connected. Why? Because they are us and we are them. We are one. Those we think of as others are better thought of as our other selves!

So, if today, you’re not your usual self, if you feel disconnected, sad, tired, scared or as my client said “not depressed” yet have all the symptoms of depression, remember that you may very well be picking up on the vibes of your many “other selves.”

So, what do you do when your other selves are suffering and you can sense, feel and experience it all? What will help When you are struggling to separate your emotions and mental struggles from the others?

  • First, check to see if these uncomfortable emotions are yours. If they are, honor them, experience them and see if they are calling for you to take action.
    • If they are yours and are asking you to take action, evaluate what action you can take and put those actions in motion.
    • If the emotions are asking you to take actions you can’t do right now or there is no action to take, look to basic self-care tools such as
      • Get enough sleep,
      • Take a break from social networks and tv,
      • Make sure you’re feeding your body with healthy foods and plenty of water.
      • Go for a walk
        • …and for goodness’ sake, remember to breathe.

Yet what if what you are experiencing is not yours?

  • First, allow the idea that this may not be yours to really sink in.
  • Say to yourself, this is not mine and I have control over how it affects me.
  • Then, consciously focus on raising your vibration.

Remember raising your vibration will help you remember your divine essence. Your divine nature. You raise your vibration not to escape your connection with your others, but in order to embrace it so you consciously shift the vibration.

You have the opportunity to consciously raise the vibration of what you are experiencing and in effect provide support for all your “others” to raise their vibrations too. Contrary to what you might be thinking, you raise your vibration, not to keep you from experiencing their pain, but to share in the opportunity to assist in the evolution of all.

Remember that you and your other selves, you and all of creation, are one. As you consciously raise your vibration, it becomes easier to remember your connection to that oneness. You consciously remember that their suffering is your suffering. How does that act of remembering assist in evolution?

That remembrance of oneness is key because in accepting their suffering as your suffering you can now consciously shift the energy your others are putting out by consciously raising your own vibration.

So, In the case of my client, how can she raise the vibration? Or if you have not been feeling yourself lately, how can you raise your vibration? One way to consciously raise your vibration is to bring a higher vibration into your energy field. I like to use Golden light but you can use white light if you prefer.

Let’s make this more practical by actually doing it. I will lead you in a guided meditation you can use anytime you realize you have picked up unwanted energy from one of your “other” selves or even if it is your vibration that needs a bit of raising. Feel free to substitute white light if you prefer. Don’t worry if you are not a visualizer, simply allow yourself to see, sense, know or even pretend you are experiencing what I am saying.

Guided Meditation of Golden Light

You can close your eyes or leave them open, whichever is more comfortable.

  1. Take a few deep breaths
  2. Feel your shoulders relax as you let go of any tension.
  3. See sense know or imagine that a beautiful golden liquid light is coming from an angel above you. You can use white light if you prefer.
  4. Allow the liquid light to envelop you with the energy of unconditional love and support.
  5. Imagine yourself relaxing so much you melt into the stream of light.
  6. You are the stream of light as you flow into a river of matching light.
  7. As you flow into the liquid river, you soon become one with the river of light. You feel your individuality yet sense a oneness and love with the rest of the river of light.
  8. Allow yourself to experience the oneness and unconditional love of the river, feel your vibration rise as you acclimate and become one with the ever-expanding river.
  9. New streams enter the river and although at first you can tell the difference between the new stream and your river, soon they too meld with the river of light.
  10. You maintain your individual consciousness yet are one with the river of light. Your vibration rising as you travel along with the rest of the river.
  11. More streams of light join your river and as you continue downstream, they quickly become one with the river of light.
  12. Feel the unconditional love and sense of oneness growing even stronger each time a new stream joins.
  13. You feel the pace of the river of light quicken as you sense your river joining with an ocean of light. You maintain your individual consciousness, yet are overcome with the intensity of love you experience as you merge with the ocean of light.
  14. The light and the love intensify and soon you are not even aware of your river anymore, you and the ocean are one.
  15. Allow yourself to experience the oneness of the ocean, feel your vibration rise even further as you acclimate and become one with the ocean.
  16. Now remember what this high vibration of love and oneness feels like so you can call it back at any time.
  17. But for now, take a deep breath and as you exhale, sense your feet on the floor, your bottom on your chair and come back to your body fully and completely knowing you can call back that high vibration at any time.

So, if you leave your computers today and find yourself or one of those other selves needing a lift, you have this tool, the Golden Light Meditation to raise and shift your vibration into the level of unconditional love and oneness.

Thank you and God Bless
